There is a remodeling boom happening right now in Southern California and across the US. With home values skyrocketing and more people working from home, many homeowners are deciding to remodel their homes to upgrade their living conditions.
At MasterCraft Home Improvement, we often consult with homeowners at our showrooms in Carlsbad, Temecula, and Murrieta who are looking for more space with flexible furniture and other design options that create multiple functions within a room.
The CEO of MasterCraft Home Improvement, Joe Martin says, “Many property owners are looking for design options that offer more flexibility within the existing footprint of their home’s floor plan. The current design trend is toward organic and contemporary aesthetics with more open space and increased functionality.”
“The most popular renovations are kitchen and bathroom remodels. Dedicated activity and workspaces such as home offices, gyms, art studios, wine cellars, and home theaters are also pretty hot right now,” he said.
In a recent survey by the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), they reported that “design preferences in both the kitchen and bath will continue to be more contemporary and transitional in style, with the added influence of a new leading trend of “natural/organic.”
“This combination feels more European in style and scale, with clean lines, minimal detailing, the warmth and texture of natural finishes and larger windows to bring the feeling of the outdoors inside,” the association said, adding that the influence of natural/organic catapulted into the top three design styles respondents expect to increase in popularity in the kitchen and bath over the next three years.
According to the most recent Houzz Kitchen Trends Report, one in five homeowners said that they are opening up their kitchens to the outdoors. Searches on the Houzz website for green kitchen cabinets, bathroom tile, accent chairs, bedrooms, artificial plants, trees, indoor pots, and planters saw a significant uptick and did as well.
The most popular color trends for kitchen and bathroom remodels are white cabinets and countertops, which will illuminate a room creating a bright and uplifting mood with a fresh, clean feel. Green and blue cabinets are also a hot ticket item for 2022.
Upgrades to increase energy efficiency and indoor air quality, such as new HVAC systems, solar power, and tankless water heaters, are also big trends in 2022.
Adding technology to make our lives easier are also trending such as radiant heated flooring, bidet toilets with self-closing lids, motion-sensor lighting, temperature control, leak detection with mobile alerts, mirrors with integrated internet access, and floating vanities with integrated electrical outlets, charging capabilities and storage.
